Zion Healer pays tribute to reggae icon Lucky Dube in his new video

Ghanaian reggae/dancehall sing-jay Zion Healer paid an emotional tribute to legendary Lucky Dube (late) by renditioning his song “crazy world” and also premiering a brand new video to that effect as yesterday marked the 10th anniversary since his demise. Zion Healer grew up reading and watching people who stood for society, their people and in the course of their struggle they met their untimely death, the most recent one was “Major Maxwell Adam Mahama who was murdered in cold blood on a mission at Denhyira”. With an artist like Lucky Dube who was a of victim of such displeasing incident, Zion Healer decided to channel it through the means by which he met his untimely death. Lets not forget Lucky Dube was a renowned reggae icon who hailed from Africa. The ceremony was held at Ghana News Agency, the media and other dignities were invited to witness the ceremony.

Through the resemblance Zion Healer has with Lucky Dube and how people shower him with praises as Lucky look alike stroke his enthusiasm to center and focus his attention on such an initiative. By so doing he channeled one story about different people into one particular artist called Lucky Dube in a video, renditioned his song and put  different characters (Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Halie Selassie,Mahatma Gandi, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Fred Hampton, Harry and Harriette Moore, Medgar Evers, John F. Kennedy, Robert Marley, Peter McIntosh, Steve Biko, Nelson Mandela, Major Mahama & Lucky Dube) in the video to give life to the story. The video was directed by Bliss Gordon Drum.

Interestingly, Lucky Dube’s children and management were aware of River Jam Entertainment front liner Zion Healer’s initiative before the song was renditioned and video been shot. The main idea was to get his management and family involved, unfortunately Lucky Dube’s management and children had other booked engagements so they could not honor the invitation but they very much appreciate the teams initiative. Adding up to what has already been discussed, Zion Healer’s management stated emphatically “we did not do this for monetary gains, we did not do it to take credit for anything Lucky Dube has done. Zion Healer is an upcoming artist who feels Lucky Dube being an African icon and international reggae musician 10 years down the line of his death day, it is best we celebrate him, hence we titled the ceremony tribute”.
